Validation of transits at Brazilian tolls

Everything a traveler needs in one place

Overview

The automatic toll pass system is very practical for drivers, but behind the scenes, there is a large team working to validate the traffic that has passed through. My job was to make the lives of these operators easier by transforming their old workspace into a customizable and visually appealing validation screen.

The problem

Validating the transits of an automatic toll was becoming a hassle for the company, as they had a higher number of passages than they could validate. At that time, one employee could manage between 3,000 and 5,000 validations per day, so they had 2 options: hire more employees, which would generate enormous costs and a snowball effect, or improve the system so they could carry out the same procedures much more quickly. It was then that they approached us to develop this solution.

Case study

When conducting a quantitative survey, my goal was to find out what people felt was missing, what bothered them, and what made them happy when using existing travel apps.

Some questions

  • What aspects do you consider when choosing a destination for a trip?

  • How many times do you usually travel each year?

  • Do you research what to do at your chosen destination?

  • What do you feel is lacking in travel apps?

Competitor analysis

When analyzing competitors, it was possible to identify that none of the main competitors had the feature of complete itinerary suggestions. It was concluded that this would be a great differentiator for the application.

Persona and the user's journey

Based on the collected data, a persona and a user journey were developed and validated.

Drafts and wireframes

At the start of the project, some quick sketches on paper were made to begin having ideas of what my app would be like.
After that, I started creating the first wireframes in the Figma tool.

Style guide

Before starting the high-fidelity prototype of the application, a study on colors, typography, and accessibility was conducted for the creation of the Style Guide, a tool that helped me maintain the same design style throughout the application.

The main colour chosen to represent the ScripTravel application was blue. This colour was chosen due to its meaning, which are essential points for all travels: “The colour blue produces security and understanding. It promotes emotional health and symbolizes loyalty, trust, and tranquility.”

Prototype

Finally, after some interface changes and the application of colours, typography, images, and forms, you will be able to view the final high-fidelity prototype by clicking here on the link.

Conclusion

Developing my first User Experience case with the theme of travel, which I really enjoy, made me very interested in every part of the project and I believe that this helped me learn a lot about each stage of being a UX Designer.

The application is not finished yet; usability tests still need to be conducted with the high-fidelity prototype and some parts of the interface that were made only for this prototype still need to be completed.

I hope you enjoyed it, see you next time!
